[ALANNA] 18 to 29 years old, all ethnicities female. 18-29 to convincingly play mid-to-late teen
Poised and refined young viscountess in a medieval fantasy world. A bit of a royalist snob, but discovers a burning need for self-determination. English accent a plus, but mid-Atlantic diction would be fine. Co-lead. Soprano or mezzo. More traditional than contemporary musical theater vocal sound.
[THE TROUBADOUR] 20 to 35 years old, all ethnicities any gender. 20s-30s to play 30s-40s.
Charismatic storyteller with a flare for the theatrical and touch of vanity. Extravagant persona overlays a deep belief in the importance of story. Serves as narrator and has prominent solo vocals in multiple songs. Baritone (if M) or mezzo (if F).
[BANDIT LEADER] 20 to 30 years old, all ethnicities any gender. Any gender, 20s-30s to play 30s-40s
 Leader of the Deepwoods Awfuls, a ragtag group of bandits. Smooth and verbose, affects aristocracy. Baritone or bari-tenor.
[MASTER TRAMMEL] 20 to 30 years old, all ethnicities male. Male, 20s-30s to play 40s-50s
 Owner of a horse stables whose patrons tend to be wealthy. Coddles the upper classes but gruff to his underlings. On the Thenardier-esque side of entrepreneurial. Will also play other roles including a bandit and a knight. Baritone.
[SHILLELAGH] 20 to 30 years old, all ethnicities female. Female, 20s-30s to play 30s/40s
Wife to Master Trammel, manager of her husband’s horse stables whose patrons tend to be wealthy. On the Thenardier-esque side of entrepreneurial. Will also play other roles. Soprano or mezzo.
[SIR HALLOCK] 20 to 35 years old, all ethnicities any gender. 20s-30s to play 30s-40s
 A knight. Serious, competent, athletic. Does battle with a monster. Will also play other roles. Baritone (if M) or mezzo/sorpano (if F).
[ASSORTED BANDITS/SWING] 20 to 30 years old, all ethnicities any gender. 20s-30s.
Members of the Deepwoods Awfuls, a spirited but none-too-bright group of brigands who prey on merchants traveling through the Great Forest. Involved in multiple ensemble numbers. May also play other roles.
Baritone or tenor (if M) or mezzo or soprano (if F).
All roles require strong singers who move very well. Experience with physical theatre, clowning and puppetry a plus.
Storyline: A stable boy who wants to be a knight. A noblewoman who wants her freedom. And the monster who wants to eat them both. A new fantasy adventure musical from the creators of THE BULLY PROBLEM. (Winner: Encore Producers Award. Nominated for seven HFF19 awards including Best Musical, Top of the Fringe, and Fringe First.) Suitable for everyone with a taste for adventure.
COVID era info:
We are currently planning this as a LIVE STREAMED production with no physically-present audience. Following the legal/health guidance of L.A. County and the policies of Fringe festival management, we may also include LIVE AUDIENCES. (We hope to be able to!) Regardless of the form of the production, everyone in attendance at auditions, rehearsals, and show performances must be fully vaccinated.
All prospective cast must be FULLY COVID VACCINATED by the date of our callbacks.
